  • Prof. Shauli Lev-Ran

    Founder & Medical Director

    Prof. Shauli Lev-Ran, founder and academic director of the ICA, is a psychiatrist, Associate Professor at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, and an affiliate researcher at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada. Prof. Lev-Ran completed his M.D. at Tel Aviv University, his residency in psychiatry at the Shalvata Mental Health Center, and his fellowship in addiction psychiatry at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health at the University of Toronto. He is a graduate of the psychoanalytic psychotherapy program at Tel Aviv University, has a master’s in health administration from the University of Haifa, and is part of the international network of trainers in motivational interviewing (MINT).

     

    Prof. Lev-Ran has previously held several important positions in the field of mental health and addiction in Israel, including serving as chair of the Israeli Society of Addiction Medicine (ILSAM) on behalf of the Israel Medical Association, deputy director of the Lev Hasharon Medical Center and member of the National Mental Health Council.

    Prof. Lev-Ran’s research focuses on the relationship between drug and alcohol use and psychiatric disorders. His many scientific studies, articles, and lectures to both professionals and the public are used to advance policy for the effective treatment of addiction both in Israel and around the world.

  • Dr. Ariel Kor

    Founder & Chair of ICA

    Dr. Ariel Kor is a psychologist in the field of addictive behavior, and has performed research in collaboration with the Problem Gambling Clinic at the Yale Program for Research on Impulsivity and Impulse Control Disordersat Yale University. Dr. Kor has a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Oxford, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Columbia University in New York. He was also awarded an honorary degree from Bar-Ilan University. 

    Dr. Kor has been involved in finance and philanthropy for many years, and has established several leading programs in the fields of education, mental health and support for Jewish communities in the Diaspora. He is co-founder of the Maytiv Center for Positive Psychology at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC), and of the organization The Jewish Spirit (Israel). He also serves on the boards of Matan (United Way Israel), the JDC, Maor and the Haredi Institute for Public Affairs.

    Dr. Kor was formerly CEO of Sampoerna Strategic (an international private investment fund, of which he is still an advisor), and served as director of Harel Insurance Investments in Israel, the American coffeehouse chain Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and the Singapore-based company Hour Glass.
