Awareness in Sight

ICA'S RESAERCH FINIDINGS SINCE OCT.7
- 1 in 4 Israelis engages in problematic substance use (alcohol, cannabis, prescription medication and other drugs).
- The most common substances used are sleeping pills, sedatives, alcohol, cannabis, and painkillers.
- 27% of young adults (18-24) and 26% of soldiers reported severe PSTD symptoms.
- In light of the ongoing war and the collective trauma in Israel, there is a real concern that the number of people affected by addiction will rise steeply.
ICA’S GROWTH AND ACTIVITIES
The construction of the National Israel Center on Addiction and Mental Health in Jerusalem is underway! This unique center, in collaboration with the Hebrew University, Hadassah Medical Center, and our other valuable partners, will be a beacon of innovation in the fields of research, training, and treatment. The Center’s activities are expected to commence at the beginning of 2025. This will allow ICA and our partners to advance the fields of addiction prevention and mental health in Israel.
The establishment of the first adolescent clinic, another major milestone for ICA, is also becoming a reality. This clinic will expand our prevention programs for adolescents, providing comprehensive and evidence-based addiction treatment and prevention services for Israeli youth.

We are excited to announce the opening of Netta – our youth clinic.
We believe in a respectful, non-judgmental therapeutic approach that creates an atmosphere of partnership in treatment. In each session, we will address the unique and individual needs of each patient in a personalized manner, with the patient fully participating in choosing the treatment goals.

Seminar: Adolescents and Pornography
Prevention and Intervention in the Smartphone Era
In an era of instant accessibility and one-click exposure to sexual content, it is important to identify and intervene in cases where inappropriate sexual behaviors develop in children and adolescents.
In this seminar, we discussed appropriate and inappropriate sexual behaviors of children and adolescents, identifying warning signs of pornography addiction, and the intervention methods available to professionals.

Campus: Supporting HMO’s in Establishing Addiction Treatment Frameworks
These days, HMOs are busy establishing a comprehensive framework for addiction treatment after receiving insurance responsibility. Our campus training staff has been accompanying this process on various levels – whether through training for the entire professional staff in the HMO, including doctors, nursing teams and social workers in primary care, or through consulting and supporting the establishment of dedicated addiction treatment clinics and developing therapeutic approaches and operational models.
